With a commitment to personal, professional service, David formed the company previously known as LaFollette, Jansa, Brandt & Co., LLP in 1980. The company was renamed Brandt Solomon & Anderson, LLP in 2003.

David graduated from the University of Northern Iowa. He is a certified public accountant (CPA), a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), and a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA).
 
David is a member of the AICPA, the South Dakota CPA Society, the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc., the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts, the American Board of Forensic Examiners (DABFE), and a Diplomat of The American Board of Forensic Accountants (DABFA).

David has served as president of the South Dakota CPA Society, the Downtown Sioux Falls Kiwanis Club, and the Volunteer and Information Center. He has served as a board member of Junior Achievement of South Dakota, treasurer and board member of Sioux Falls Literacy Council, board member of the Sioux Falls School District, and board member of the American Diabetes Association, South Dakota Affiliate board of directors.

David's outside interests include fishing, woodworking and restoring antique automobiles. David and his wife, Ruth, have two children and two grandchildren.

Barry M. Solomon, CPA
  
 
Barry has been with the firm since its inception in 1980. He was admitted as partner in 1984.

He is a graduate of the University of South Dakota, a certified public accountant (CPA), a member of the AICPA and the South Dakota CPA Society.

Barry is currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Carroll Institute and on the Sioux Falls Catholic School System finance committee.  He has served as Chairman of both the Governing Board of South Dakota Achieve and the Board of Directors of Sioux Falls Catholic Schools. In addition, he was the President of the Sioux Falls Youth Hockey Association Board of Directors.

He also served as a board member of the American Diabetes Association, president of Sioux Falls Cosmopolitan Club, and treasurer of the North Central Federation of Cosmopolitan International, a board member and chairman of the Food Service Center of South Dakota and member and chairman of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church finance committee.

Barry's outside interests include fishing, hunting, soccer, and golfing. He and his wife Carol, have four sons.

Rhon M. Anderson, CPA
  
 
A native of Salem, South Dakota, Rhon joined the firm in 1982 and became partner in 1994.
 
He is a graduate of Augustana College, a certified public accountant (CPA), a member of the AICPA and the South Dakota CPA Society. Rhon is treasurer/secretary and a board member of Family Visitation Center.

Rhon has served as board member, treasurer and president of Volunteers of America, Dakotas - Turning Point, chairman of the Sioux Falls Bell Federal Credit Union Supervisory Committee, treasurer of the Sioux Falls Midtown Sertoma Club, treasurer of South Dakota Voices for Children and treasurer, council member, and president of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.

Rhon's outside interests include golf, camping, gardening, hunting and coaching fast pitch softball. He and his wife, Sarah, have two sons and one daughter.

Barbara A. Whetham, CPA/ABV/CFF, CVA
  
 
A native of Armour, South Dakota, Barb joined the firm in 1992 and was admitted as partner in 2003.

She is a graduate of the University of South Dakota, a certified public accountant (CPA), a member of the AICPA and the South Dakota CPA Society. Barb is also Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV), Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF), a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA), and a member of the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts.

Barb is a board member and past chairperson for the Community Food Bank of South Dakota. She has served on the membership and legislative committee for the South Dakota CPA society and is a past board member for the Volunteer and Information Center.

Barb and her husband Bob have two daughters.
  
 
  
Bradford W. Benson, CPA
  
 
Brad joined the firm in October of 1998 after practicing in Des Moines, Iowa and Mobridge, South Dakota for seven years. He was admitted as partner to the firm in 2003.
 
Brad is a 1991 graduate of the University of South Dakota, a certified public accountant (CPA), and is a member of the AICPA and the South Dakota CPA Society. His primary focus is income taxation and tax planning. Brad annually attends the AICPA National Tax Institute and is a member of the Sioux Falls Estate Planning Council. He also serves as a board member and sits on the finance committee for Volunteers of America, Dakotas.

Brad's outside interests include family activities, various sports, hunting, and fishing. Brad and his wife Gretchen have two children.
  
 
  
Mary M. Hageman, CPP
Payroll Services Manager
  
 
Mary joined the firm in April of 1992 as an Administrative Assistant and became Office Manager in October of 1992. She is currently the Payroll/Human Resource Services Manager for Dakota Payroll Services, LLC.
 
Her duties include payroll and human resource functions for the firm. She also supervises payroll & quarterly processing and performs bookkeeping (accounts receivable and accounts payable) functions for some of the firm’s clients.
 
She is a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) and member of the American Payroll Association and local Siouxland Chapter of the American Payroll Association. She attended Stenotype Institute of South Dakota for Court Reporting and later received an Associate's Degree in Accounting from National College.
 
Mary, her husband Bob and daughters Isabella and Jenna live in Tea. Outside of work, Mary enjoys spending time with her family and outdoor activities.

Christi joined the firm in September of 2000. Prior to joining BS&A, she worked for six years as a staff accountant for a firm in Dickinson, North Dakota.
 
She graduated with honors from Dickinson State University; Christi is a Certified Public Accountant, a member of the AICPA, and a member of the South Dakota CPA Society.
 
Christi and her husband John have two children, Shannon and Jessica. Christi enjoys family, school, and church activities.

Carla is a native of Bloomfield, NE and joined the firm in September of 2002.
 
She graduated with honors from Mount Marty College in August of 2002. She became a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor in October of 2004. In January of 2007 she became an Advanced Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor.  She is currently serving as treasurer for both the Worthing Cub Scout Pack 309 and the Lennox Boy Scout Troop 109.
 
She and her husband, Scott, live in Worthing along with their three sons, Isaac, Tadan and Dason.  Outside of work she enjoys spending time with family, baking and scrapbooking.

Kristie is a native of Rapid City, SD. After graduating from high school, Kristie moved to California to attend Travel & Tourism school. In 1989, she and her husband moved to Burke, SD where she worked as a dental assistant for 10 years. Kristie and her family moved to Sioux Falls during the Summer of 1999. She started her employment with BS&A in the fall of 2000 as an administrative assistant.
 
In her spare time, Kristie enjoys golfing and travel. She and her husband, Darin, have two children.

Jill, who is originally from Colton, joined the firm in January 2004 as an administrative and investment assistant. In 1993 she graduated from Dakota State University in Madison, SD receiving her degree in Business Administration with options in accounting and finance. In 1994 she received her general securities and insurance licenses. Her job duties include accounts receivable for the firm and service support for financial services. Jill, her husband Dean and their son Colin live in Brandon. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, going to movies, scrap booking and fishing with her husband in the summertime.

Troy joined the firm in December of 2002. He graduated from the University of Sioux Falls in December of 2005.  Troy is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a member of the AICPA, the South Dakota CPA Society, and the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals Network. He is also a volunteer for Junior Achievement of South Dakota.
 
Troy’s interests outside of work include golfing, scuba diving, bicycling, swimming, playing sand volleyball, traveling, watching football (the Huskers and the Steelers), and spending time with his friends and family.

Craig joined the firm in July of 2006 shortly after graduating from Augustana College with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting.  Craig is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a member of the AICPA, and a member of the South Dakota CPA Society.  Craig is also a member of Sioux Falls Synergy and the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals Network.

Joe Godshall

Joe moved to Sioux Falls in June 2006 with his wife, Christina, and started with BS&A shortly after. He graduated from Franciscan University of Steubenville Ohio in 2004 and lived in Scottsdale, AZ for two years before moving to Sioux Falls.
 
Born and raised in Norristown, PA (a suburb of Philadelphia), Joe is a die-hard Eagles fan and enjoys watching football, spending time with his family, golfing, hunting, playing the guitar, and going to Church. Joe and Christina have a son, Joseph, and a daughter, Grace.

Brian joined the firm in December 2006.  He graduated Summa Cum Laude from South Dakota State University with a degree in Economics in December 2005.  He later attended the University of South Dakota and Augustana during the spring of 2006 to complete his accounting education.  Brian is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a member of the AICPA, the South Dakota CPA Society, and the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals Network.
 
Outside of work, Brian enjoys spending time with his wife and son, being with friends and family, golfing, playing video games, and watching college football especially the Florida Gators.
 
 
  
Lisa LaMere

Lisa, originally from Madison, Minnesota, joined the firm as a Payroll Specialist in October of 2007, then left for a brief period, and gladly returned in September 2008.
 
Her duties include processing payroll and account payables for many of the firm's clients.
 
Lisa graduated from Minnesota State University Mankato in 1997 with a bachelor's degree in Business Finance. She has worked several years in various accounting positions including payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable. She is a member of the Siouxland Chapter of the American Payroll Association and has plans to become a Certified Payroll Professional. 
 
Lisa, her husband, Tony, and their three children, Traye, Kiley and Letiza, moved to Sioux Falls in the summer of 2007 from Saint Michael, Minnesota. They are all enjoying the Sioux Falls area, their church, and schools. Lisa enjoys spending time with her family and friends, attending various church activities, and playing piano.

Julie joined the firm in January of 2008.  Prior to joining BS&A, she worked for numerous years as a staff accountant for a firm in Sioux Falls.
 
She graduated with honors from Augustana College in May 1994 with a bachelor's degree in accounting and business administration.  Julie is a Certified Public Accountant, a member of the AICPA, and a member of the South Dakota CPA Society.  She also serves as a board member and is chair of the audit committee for Volunteers of America, Dakotas.
 
Julie's outside interests include family activities and quilting.  Julie and her husband Mitch have three children, Craig, Kelsey and Keanan.
 
 
  
Amanda Talsma
Administrative/Accounting Intern
  
  
Amanda joined the firm in February of 2009 as an administrative/accounting intern.  She is currently a student at the University of Sioux Falls with plans to graduate in May 2011 with a degree in Public Accounting and Spanish.  Amanda is a native of Chandler, Minnesota.
 
In her spare time Amanda enjoys recreational sports such as biking and volleyball.  She also enjoys shopping and spending time with family and friends.
